Faculty Members from Our University Invited to Thailand for International Academic Exchange

Recently, an international ceramic culture exchange event hosted bySilpakorn University, organized by theFaculty of Decorative Arts at Silpakorn University, and co-organized with the participation of theChina Ceramic Culture Research Institute of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, opened at Silpakorn University in Thailand. Professor Yan Fei, Professor Li Xinqing, and Associate Professor Zhao Xin from our university were invited to participate in the event.

The event brought together more than 80 scholars from universities in China, the United States, Thailand, Turkey, South Korea, India, Germany, Australia, Israel, and other countries. The program featured four major components: academic lectures, artistic creation, an invitational exhibition, and field research visits to ceramic production areas in Thailand. Rich and engaging in content, the event not only highlighted the diverse charm and cutting-edge exploration of contemporary ceramic culture but also served as a vivid example of international exchange and mutual learning in the field of ceramic culture.

During the academic lecture sessions, Professor Yan Fei presented a talk titledResearch on the Redesign of Traditional Famous Ceramics from the Perspective of AI; Professor Li Xinqing delivered a lecture titledResearch on the Integrated Design of Ceramic Art and Culture; and Associate Professor Zhao Xin spoke onInheritance, Integration, and Contemporary Practice in Ceramic Art and Design Education. They shared their latest research findings and distinctive perspectives in the field of ceramic culture studies.

The artistic creation session inspired participants’ creative enthusiasm. Scholars created works on site, using ceramics as a medium to showcase artistic expressions shaped by diverse cultural backgrounds. The invitational exhibition featured an impressive array of exquisite ceramic works, demonstrating the innovation and vitality of contemporary ceramic art.

The field research visits to Thailand’s ceramic production areas provided participants with in-depth insights into the history, craftsmanship, and current market landscape of Thai ceramics, laying a solid foundation for future research and collaboration.
