JCU Delegation Visits Japan for Educational Exchange

At the invitation of Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts and Institute of Science Tokyo, a delegation from Jingdezhen Ceramic University visited Japan from April 21 to 24 to promote academic exchange and collaboration. The delegation included Chen Ning, Dean and Researcher of the School of Archaeology and Museology; Hou Tiejun, Dean and Professor of the School of International Culture and Communication; and Hu Yichao, a representative from the JCU Museum.

At Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, the delegation met with President Izumi Hatano, Vice President Tatsuya Mori, and deans of relevant departments. Both sides reviewed the long-standing ties between the two institutions and discussed potential collaboration in organizing international art exhibitions, academic symposia on export ceramics, and faculty and student exchanges.

Following the meeting, the delegation held further discussions with Vice President Mori regarding the establishment of aJoint Research Center for Export Ceramics, followed by an unveiling ceremony. The two sides also exchanged views on the history of re-exported ceramics and their cultural dissemination from both Chinese and Japanese perspectives.

At Institute of Science Tokyo, the delegation was warmly welcomed by President Yujiro Tanaka and Vice President Jun-ichi Takada. Both sides introduced their respective institutions and viewed JCU’s promotional video. The delegation expressed appreciation for Institute of Science Tokyo’s historical contributions to talent cultivation at JCU, and proposed continuing the tradition of cooperation through joint research, talent development, and academic exchanges.

President Tanaka expressed strong support for strengthening collaboration in areas such as joint degree programs, research projects, and inter-university exchanges.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Tokyo University of Science Museum, accompanied by faculty members.

This visit facilitated in-depth dialogue on joint exhibitions, research collaboration, and co-training of talents, laying a solid foundation for long-term and substantive cooperation between JCU and Japanese universities.
