On the morning of April 25, Christopher Green, Consul General of the United States in Wuhan, visited Jingdezhen Ceramic University. Lyu Pinchang, Deputy Party Secretary and Acting President of JCU, warmly received the delegation and hosted a discussion in the first-floor conference room of the university museum on Xianghu Campus. Attendees included Yang Zhimin, Director of the Organization Department; Xiao Zhibin, Deputy Director of the Department of American, Oceanian and European Affairs of the Jiangxi Foreign Affairs Office; Zhang Jingjing, Dean of the International School; Margaret Sullivan, Director of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan; andMpaza Kapembwa, Director of the Economic Section.

During the meeting, Lyu Pinchang welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university. He noted that JCU is the only multidisciplinary university in China named after ceramics and is committed to the development and research of art education. The university has signed cooperation agreements with institutions in various countries and co-founded the International Summer School for Chinese Ceramic Art with Alfred University and West Virginia University. To date, it has welcomed over 1,000 students from U.S. universities, becoming an influential platform for international ceramic and cultural exchange. As both China and the U.S. are major countries in ceramics, he expressed hope that upcoming international events—such as the 52nd IAC Congress and the “Future of Ceramics” Biennale—will further promote ceramic and cultural exchange between the two nations and deepen bilateral friendship.

Consul General Green expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. He praised JCU as a highly internationalized university with distinctive characteristics. He emphasized that educational cooperation is a vital link in cultural exchange between the U.S. and China. The U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan will continue to support interaction between institutions in both countries, including faculty and student exchanges, academic cooperation, and cultural projects. Green also acknowledged the global cultural significance of ceramic art and expressed hope for future collaborations in artistic innovation and cultural exchange.

During the visit, the delegation toured the “Art as a Carrier of Virtue: Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC” exhibition showcasing JCU’s achievements in art education, as well as the International Ceramic Studio.
