As the Spring Festival approaches, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, in collaboration with the Zhushan Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee and the Zhushan District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, hosted a special event on January 26th to offer international students an immersive experience of Chinese New Year traditions. Themed "A ‘Global’ Jingdezhen: Welcoming the Year of the Snake," the celebration took place at the Daqi Kiln House in Zhushan District, Jingdezhen.
The event was attended by Yang Zhimin, a member of the university’s Party Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, and Zhang Jingjing, Dean of the International School. Also present were officials from the Zhushan District Committee, the District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, the Women Ceramic Artists Association, faculty from JCU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and more than 100 international students from 32 countries.
During the event, international students, guided by their instructors, participated in traditional Chinese cultural activities such as practicing calligraphy, writing the "福" (Fu, meaning "blessing") character, and crafting Chinese knots. Eager to engage,students showcased their unique creations, wrote New Year’s wishes, and together welcomed the arrival of the new year while experiencing the charm of the Chinese Spring Festival.
The atmosphere was lively and filled with excitement. Students from diverse cultural backgrounds delivered captivating performances showcasing their home countries' cultures and sang Chinese songs to express their affection for China and best wishes for the Year of the Snake.
Following the performances, the students gathered to exchange New Year gifts and share festive greetings. Many expressed that the event was both meaningful and heartwarming, allowing them to deeply experience the warmth of the Chinese Spring Festival and the richness of Chinese culture.
