Recently, the 14th National Art Exhibition opened in various regions across China. A total of 84 works by faculty and students from Jingdezhen Ceramic University were selected for the exhibition. These include 60piecesof ceramic art, 8piecesof arts and crafts, 9piecesof sculptures, 5piecesof murals, 1 piece of art design, and 1pieceof Chinese painting. Among them, 14 pieces (including9pieces of ceramic art, 3 pieces of sculptures, 1 piece of murals, and 1 piece of art design) were sent to Beijing for further exhibition. This year’s selection marks a significant increase in both the number of selected and Beijing-bound works compared to previous editions, achieving the best results the university has ever had in the National Art Exhibition.
The National Art Exhibition, held every five years, is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the China Artists Association. As the country’s largest, most diverse, and most comprehensive art event, it showcases the latest achievements in China’s fine arts field and plays a vital role in promoting the flourishing of art creation. It is also an important platform for nurturing and cultivating artistic talent across the nation.
To prepare for this prestigious exhibition, the university began organizing creative efforts in early 2023. These efforts included project development, special seminars, mid-term reports, and expert critiques, all as part of a well-structured research activity to support artistic creation.
The university’s success in this exhibition reflects its continued advancement in integrating professional development, teaching reform, and artistic creation. It further highlights JCU’s leading role in ceramic art and sculpture among Chinese higher education institutions. At the same time, it represents a breakthrough for other disciplines, such as mural and art design, in gaining recognition at the national level. Notably, the university's students excelled, with 24 works selected in the categories of ceramic art and craft art, and 14 of these advancing to Beijing. This achievement underscores the university’s excellence in cultivating talent in ceramic arts.
